Our Peer Specialist position is a unique opportunity to live on-site and serve as both a neighbor and mentor to individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness.

About the Role
The Peer Specialist lives within the Gospel Village community and serves as a consistent, supportive presence for residents. By offering peer mentorship, spiritual encouragement, and practical help, the Peer Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a culture of dignity, trust, and accountability.
This position also involves outreach to individuals still experiencing homelessness, extending the same support and connection beyond our Village walls.
Key Responsibilities
Live-On-Site Community Support
Serve as a neighbor and role model, available to residents for day-to-day support
Build meaningful relationships through conversation, shared meals, and prayer
Facilitate Bible studies, small groups, and spiritual discussions
Be present and responsive during crises, including nights and weekends
Support move-ins, help residents understand rules, and foster a peaceful, respectful environment
Outreach & Engagement
Conduct regular outreach to unhoused individuals across Polk County
Build bridges to services and housing opportunities at Gospel Village
Collaborate with shelters, food pantries, healthcare partners, and faith-based organizations
Organize outreach events and document outcomes
Community Building
Promote a spirit of hospitality, grace, and connection
Help plan social gatherings, volunteer activities, and community events
Support residents’ personal and spiritual growth
Encourage accountability while modeling Gospel Inc.’s core values
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with a heart for ministry, lived experience or deep understanding of homelessness, and a calling to serve through relationship and presence. The ideal candidate is humble, grounded in faith, and able to navigate life with compassion and integrity.
This position is ideal for someone who sees ministry not as a task—but as a way of life.
